INSTITUTIONAL VALUES AND BEST PRACTICES

Dr. R.A.N.M Arts and Science College sensitizes students and employees regarding gender equity and takes the social responsibility of reacting to the events happened in the society by various activities. The institute promotes gender equity in admissions, recruitment, administrative functionality and academic activities.

Measures initiated by the institution for the promotion of gender equity:

  • ● NSS unit is started exclusively to encourage the girl students to participate in the social services and so on.
  • ● Girls waiting hall is provided in the campus with required facilities.
  • ● Separate space is provided for girls in the library and the college canteen to avoid inconvenience.
  • ● The girl students are nominated as members of various committees at department, institute levels and the institute encourage their participation in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
  • ● During orientation programs and other events, awareness is created on gender equity among the students
  • ● Boys are sensitized to participate in Rangoli and other competitions
  • ● The institute celebrates Women's day in a grand manner and presents success stories of famous women to inspire the girl students and to make them understand their potential.
  • ● Internal Complaint Committee (LA&ICC) is organising various events including guest lectures to empower and support young minds in achieving their goals.
  • ● The women Harassment cell conducts awareness program for women empowerment and helps in giving counselling to students.
  • ● The institution also having Gender Equity Cell to make the students to know the role of gender in the society by conducting various awareness programmes

Through its academic and administrative endeavours, the institution celebrates and fosters tolerance and peace towards the cultural, geographical, linguistic, and socioeconomic origins of all of its stakeholders, making it a hub of diversity. To accomplish this collective inclusivity, the forums, cells, and clubs host a range of activities. Its goal is to open young people's minds in a welcoming atmosphere so they can recognise the prevalent pluralism and contribute positively to the growth of the country and society.

  • ● A well-functioning Students Support Cell in the institution ensures equal opportunities in various activities irrespective of their caste, language, religion, region, culture, etc. It supports students in getting various government, NGOs, and management scholarships.

Dr. R.A.N.M Arts and Science College sensitizes the students and the employees of the institution to the constitutional obligations about values, rights, duties and responsibilities of citizens which enables them to conduct as a responsible citizen. The vision of the institution is "To empower the students’ leadership qualities, develop entrepreneurial skills and produce disciplined and matured citizens with intellectual and emotional strength to meet the upcoming challenges". Entrepreneur Development Cell

The EDC provides an opportunity to enhance the entrepreneurial skills among the students. It also helps to market the products produced by the student. Hence, we practice with the objectives as,

  • • To develop team spirit among the students
  • • To inculcate the entrepreneurial skill among students
  • • To enhance their marketing skills.

The Context

RANM strongly focuses on the development of students of the rural background in all fields either as an employee or as an employer. The EDC is an avenue to develop the entrepreneurial skill among the students and provides a platform for showcase their products.


The Practice

The students are allowed to carry their products to the outside bazaars and can sell their products.


Evidence of success

The students enjoy the program and its success is observed through the feedbacks. They learn a lot of entrepreneurial skills and are involved in tactic marketing of their products.

Best Practice II: Quiz competitions

Objective of the Practice

  • • To develop the basic general knowledge in the students
  • • To inculcate team spirit
  • • To encourage their perseverance and hard work

The Context

The library and departments conduct distinctive quiz program that is Knowledge Board which involves the students and kindles their thirst to hunt for knowledge.


Practice:

Departments conduct regularly the Quiz through Online/Off line Mode. Through Knowledge Board, The Library gives 15 questions per day about current affairs.


Evidence of success

The students are prepared for the future and are involved in learning leadership and team spirit.


Institutional Distinctiveness

The performance of the institution in one area distinctive to its priority:

  • • Priority is given by college to encourage education among underprivileged rural students. Due to a number of factors, primarily financial ones, the students in the area cannot afford to attend the urban colleges. Thus, our college gives aspirant students from rural areas access to an academic environment so they can advance in their academic endeavours. The institution supports students' participation in extracurricular activities (NSS, cultural, literary, and athletics) in order to help them catch up to main stream students, all while keeping an eye on their overall development. Additionally, the college hosts a number of lectures, seminars, workshops, and other events to inform students about pressing domestic and global concerns.
  • • As a special thrust, societal development is also instilled on a large scale into the students through the active NSS unit which undertakes various services to inculcate social values. The NSS unit organizes a wide range of activities all year long, such as field trips, street plays, cleanliness campaigns, tree planting campaigns, blood donation campaigns, waste disposal campaigns, gender equity campaigns, and many more.

Plan of action for the Upcoming academic year

  • • To provide infrastructure for staff and students to learn
  • • To engage students in extension activities in order to promote social responsibility
  • • To plan a program of orientations for fresh learners regarding extracurricular, co-curricular, and academic aspects as well as infrastructure
  • • To plan job fairs and placement drives and assist students in finding employment
  • • To give instructors regular access to ICT for instruction, with sufficient infrastructure.
  • • To perform remedial coaching and strive for high pass rates across all subject areas.
  • • To provide seminars, webinars, FDPs, and workshops to all teachers in order to transmit information on current themes.
  • • To encourage teachers and students to enrol in SWAYAM online courses
  • • To sign MoUs and strengthen industry-academia linkages
  • • To encourage Faculties and research scholars to publish books /Chapters in books
