The Department of Information Technology was established in the year 2008 with 50 seat allotment. The department aims at molding the students with high discipline and a good academic exposure. The dedicated team of the faculty members employs innovative teaching techniques to promote effective learning. Resource persons from MNCs are invited to share their ideas and to guide the students for their career in the IT industries.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs)

Students will be able to

PEO-1: To provide graduating students with core competencies by strengthening their mathematical, scientific and basic engineering fundamentals.

PEO-2: To train graduates in diversified and applied areas with analysis, design and synthesis of data to create novel products and solutions to meet current industrial and societal needs.

PEO-3: To encourage students for higher studies, research activities and entrepreneurial skills by imparting interactive quality teaching and organizing symposiums, conferences, seminars, workshops and technical discussions.

Programme Introduction:

Information technology department is considered a bridge between computer science specializations and organizational and administrative fields whereby a student gains knowledge and acquires skills necessary to develop, design and maintain systems and then utilize them in financial and administrative applications. The dynamic world of IT has been demanding for more diverse talents day by day. Taking into account this demand for specialized IT professionals, this course is meant to cater to the demand in IT. The students are exposed to various areas of IT including the latest developments in the industry during the course of study.

Information Technology covers a broad spectrum of hardware and software solutions that enable organizations to gather, organise, and analyse data that helps them achieve their goals. It also details technology-based workflow processes that expand the capacity of an organization to deliver services that generate revenue. The four main focuses of IT personnel are business computer network and database management, information security, business software development, and computer tech support.
